Spravato®

Esketamine Nasal spray

At Anderson Clinic, we are proud to expand our innovative mental health services with SPRAVATO® (esketamine) nasal spray, an FDA-approved treatment for adults with treatment-resistant depression (TRD) and depression with suicidal thoughts.

SPRAVATO is a breakthrough medication that works differently from traditional antidepressants. While most oral medications target serotonin or norepinephrine, SPRAVATO is a form of ketamine that affects glutamate, a key neurotransmitter involved in mood regulation—offering rapid and potentially more robust symptom relief.

Unlike intravenous (IV) ketamine treatments, which are administered via infusion and used off-label, SPRAVATO is FDA-approved and delivered as a nasal spray in a certified clinical setting under direct supervision. Both treatments are grounded in ketamine science and offer rapid relief of depressive symptoms, but SPRAVATO’s FDA approval brings a major advantage: coverage by most commercial insurance plans, making this cutting-edge therapy more accessible to patients.

What to Expect During SPRAVATO® Treatment at Anderson Clinic

At Anderson Clinic, we’re committed to making your SPRAVATO® (esketamine) treatment experience as comfortable, safe, and effective as possible.

Your Journey Begins with a Psychiatric Evaluation
Before starting treatment, you’ll meet with one of our psychiatrists for a comprehensive evaluation to determine if SPRAVATO is the right option for you. If recommended, our team will then work directly with your insurance provider and specialty pharmacy to seek coverage and authorization—helping remove as much administrative burden from you as possible.

Treatment Schedule
Once approved, your SPRAVATO treatment will follow this schedule:

  • Twice weekly treatments for the first four weeks

  • Once weekly treatments for the following four weeks

What Happens During a Treatment Session
Each session takes place in a private, comfortable setting at our clinic. You will self-administer the nasal spray under the supervision of a licensed medical provider, and then rest and relax for about two hours while our medical team monitors you closely.

We encourage patients to bring headphones and calming music to enhance relaxation during the session. To support the therapeutic process, we ask that you avoid working, using your phone, or engaging in distracting activities during treatment.

Important Safety Note: Because SPRAVATO can cause temporary sedation or dizziness, you must arrange for someone to drive you home after each session. Patients are not permitted to drive themselves.

If you have questions about the treatment process or want to find out if SPRAVATO is right for you, contact us today. We're here to support you every step of the way.
